I was recommended to KIOC by former Indian cricketer Hemang Badani a friend of mine. I wanted to develop specific things and my overall game. Being a women cricketer it is not always easy to find the right place.
Karnataka are right on top with a 92 runs first innings lead at the end of the first day against Kerala at the RDT Stadium, Ananthapur. Karuna Jain with 87 ( 9 fours) and Sindhu 21 ( 1 four) are at the crease. Karnataka won the toss and invited Kerala to take first strike on a green top. The gamble paid off as Vanitha struck in her very first over clean bowling Soniya for no score. She struck again in her second and fourth over to have Kerala struggling at 13 for three. Mamatha Maben took over from this stage and picked up five wickets conceding a mere 11 runs from 17.3 overs while Vanitha had three for 8 from eight overs.
Deepika Babu was the other wicket taker with two for 14. From 50 for 9, the last wicket pair drove Karnataka to despair stone-walling the attack for 21 overs and scoring just fifteen runs in the process before being shot out for a paltry 65. Karnataka started off well with in-form Karuna Jain scoring briskly. Hema Malini offered good support scoring 41 before she was run out attempting a second run. Sindhu Ashok joined Karuna in the middle and at the end of the first day the pair remained unconquered with the Karnataka score reading a healthy 157 for one off 39 overs.
Kerala : All out 65 : Sharanya 15, Mamatha Maben 5 for 11, Vanitha 3 for 8 and Deepika Babu 2 for 14.
Karnataka: 157 for 1 from 39 overs : Karuna Jain 87 not out. Hema Malini 41, Sindhu Ashok 21 not out.
